1886: POSTAGE 29½ mm., with Stops, 2 d. rose, rouletted, handstamped "BRITISH CONSULAR MAIL / ANTANANARIVO" in red, initialled in manuscript ink by W.C. Pickersgill, the British Vice-Consul. Typical corner fault where the stamp was removed from the letter with minor ironed bend and two age spots mentioned for full accuracy. Kiepura of California in Robson Lowe's 'Philatelist' in May 1966, although illustrated the commentary on same was erroneous, the handstamp being red not black. The 3 d. rose with red handstamp is housed in a private collection and cancelled by blue crayon. It is surprising that this stamp remains unlisted by Stanley Gibbons
